sat down dinner in their Hillside Dr apartment when they suddenly heard screams They were not playful kind of screams out onto the balcony and spotted the two kids In the creek he It vas cold on March 24 but the officer stopped only long enough to lace on running shoes before dashing down four flights of stairs Thirteen yearold David and his older brother Jim of Court St had been walking along the creek embankment on their way to Holy Rosary Church when Davidslipped on the icy surface and fell Into the creek The current was too strong for the boy to reach the edge and his older brother jumped and held his brother above the water Greg Braun arrived in time to pull the youngest out and then his older brother from the ley water Both were soaked and the youngest bad apparently already gone under once The police officer then escorted them bock to his home where he got them into some dry clothes and called their parents An officer for eight years Constable Braun is modest about the rescue I didn t think It was a big deal it is the kind of thing any human being would do he said Constable Braun is a Kitchener native but moved to Milton after joining the Regional Police department He worked briefly in Georgetown before assuming patrol duties in Milton This is the second occasion Comrtable has received the award Three years ago he was recognized for the dramatic ar rest of two men
