HOCKEY Effort and Ability Pay Off At Trophy Presentation Time by Shift There is something about playoff hockey whether It is Stanley Cup play or minor hockey you will see some excellent hockey ployed that Is pleasing to both the officials and the fans This something was evident In our recent playoff tour Many of the teams who finished higher in the league standings were eliminated by teams who showed more desire and strong team play The semi finals really started the ball rolling building up to the climax in the final game In the A league Superior Poods came from fourth place to become champions in the American league sixth place finishers made the champions Plum Heating work hard for the win Johnson Carney of the H League also came from sixth place to the finals and pushed the champion Armstrong Bros real hard the Senior League Final was the fastest and closest game of the day Scotia Bank needing overtime to dispose of Park Toyota A new feature this year was the Championship con si sting of the bottom six teams in each league Snowmobile Club required two overtime periods before stopping Depco In the A final Mac Milk also went Into overtime to defeat Kinsmen in the American League and Carpet won the N division AND ABILITY Trophy presentations are always tense and exciting times and this year five trophies were presented in each league for the Improved always there In the stands cheering their sons and teams on evenat5301nthe morning the individual players who would Improve so well over the season that they made one fee that we had budding Prank Mahovlich a the players and coaches who worked bo hard on the snowmobile rally both on the snow and on the balance sheet final tally will be proximately the executive and commissioners who worked long hours to make minor hockey work It has been a long season not in number of but in the length months that was required to complete the schedule and playoffs We could have been out of the wen a a month earlier but for the number of Saturdays that were not available to us These days are token away from minor hockey and in one five week period we only played on two Saturdays This makes conditioning
