answer to the widespread confusion In the world At the heart of all today a needs he said Is the need for of thought materialism is what would prevent healing and reduce society to con fusion Honesty Is power Dishonesty Is human weakness which forfeits divine help said Mr John quoting from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science Mr John added We all know that the practice of honesty begins with ourselves with the thinking and actions of every individual In our business and professional life in guiding and instructing our children in all our human relationships SPIRITUAL POWER Spirltuuliiation of thought reveals a new heaven and new earth present here and now in which man is armed with spiritual power dominion and intelligence bo important is this splritualliation of thought that It Is the theme of this year s annual meeting and It Is also a basic theme of a series of healing goal meetings being held in many areas of North America Halton Evangelistic Team Concludes Canada Crusade While federal politicians awing into the last three weeks of trie election campaign another transCanada crusade has just concluded in the nation capital Canadian evangelist Ken Campbell of and his team climaxed coast to coast inter church reaching mission which has visits to every provincial capital over the past six months with a Saturday light rally and Sunday services Ottawa Designated Operation Reconciliation his national evangelistic thrust was proposed in Campbell words to rouse the church to leadthenatlon to find its soul Theilinerary which began in Winnipeg last November look the Team composed of Campbell long time friend Jim Reese and the St Catharines based Messengers Quartet through to Victoria B C As well as the provincial capitals other communities large and small In the Campbell Reese Team has conducted many of their nearly crusades during the past years of ministry throughout Canada were also on their schedule Following the western swing the same team toured through many parts of Ontario late in and early in The brilliant young piano virtuoso Larry Campbell of Johnson City Tennessee accompanied the Campbell Reese Team through the third of Operation Reconciliation In Quebec and the Marl times concluding in Ottawa today It is estimated that close to persons attended the rallies and related services in more than centres visited by the Team in Operation Reconciliation CRUSADE It has been nearly 15 years since the late British evangelist Tom at tempted the last such across Canada crusade rally tour The Team Is scheduled to cap off Operation Reconciliation with a week of ministry In each of the north and the south of Ireland In mid summer Ironically In the midst of Operation Reconciliation Mr Campbell found himself thrust Into the centre of a swirl of controversy in his own home area the Region of Ontario in late February when he protested the visit of Gay Lib to a Grade 12 health class human sexual com pa lability In the high school his daughters attend In what might bo termed Operation Confrontation Mr Campbell refused to pay the educational portion of his property taxes to protest what he termed the totalitarian secularism which he claims dominates the public educational system of Ontario The Halton Renaissance Committee a grass roots movement of concerned parents and rate payeri seeking to restore the responsibility of the public educational system to those who pay for it and entrust their children to It was Initiated through Mr Campbell protest and now numbers close to members This sectarian partisan committee Is preparing a brief for the trustees of the Halton Board of Education proposing educational reform In areas ranging from curriculum content and teaching methods to the philosophical pluralism needed to serve the present pluralistic society Late in March one night after the Renaissance regional rally midnight visitors threw a fist sited rock through a bedroom window at the Campbell residence scattering glass throughout the room where 10y carold Kathy and Shelly were sleeping the dangers or going to Ireland for Operation Reconciliation when I have enough trouble living peaceably with everyone in my own home area He adds that Christ warned that He did not come to bring peace but to create dynamic tensions that shake us out of destructive ruts into constructive renewal Recalling the circumstances in which the trip to Ireland was first proposed Mr Campbell tells of the little old lady who approached him at the con elusion of a crusade in the Pcntlcton Peach Bowl Convention Centre a couple years ago and after giving me a big motherly hug said I been praying Tor a spiritual awakening in the Okanogan Valley for years God has answered our If He can do It hero He can do it in Ireland I m praying that God will send men to Ireland Mr Campbell said that In spite of her big hug he won if she really loved us when she made that suggestion Now it seems that her prayer as far as going to I reinid is con is being answered Mr Campbell noted that Duke University s citation upon the conferring of the degree on Prime Minister a few weeks Your aspiration to create a Just gives us confidence that in the global village of the future Canada will show mankind an example of sue pluralism We are in a position where wc could give such moral leadership Internationally says Mr Campbell but it Is only through the reconciling of the Gospel of Jews that we can find the spiritual resources to love God and our neighbor as we ought That what s needed most in Canada and In Ireland and In our world today While realistically not expecting our two weeks of ministry in Ireland to make much difference in the present mate Mr Campbell does believe that their trip could rouse any Christians In Camdu especially to pray for the healing of Ireland wounds and that could contribute significantly to a turning of the tide in that troubled beautiful land It is to be hoped that the Canadian Prince of Peace Corps will be successful In some measure as they take Operation Reconciliation to Ireland this summer NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
