as in other years I found traces of carelessness and stupidity by those who claim to be sport and sportswomen When looking under rocks or worms and salamanders for bait why not replace those rocks as you found them They must be In that position a long time to make it a favorable location for worms or other small creatures All grass la gone and the soil is moist and shady That is why the environment Is right for these small beings By replacing the rocks you will provide for future stocks for another year Maybe a small thing but it does make sense The thoughtless leaving of Monofilament line have mentioned before What have you done about It this year Next year make it a part of the fishing scene No mono line and where it is left by others pick it up I have come back many times with my pockets full of the stuff If we all did this Any one catch one of those brown trout that were seen off Brighton this year They were taken In Commercial Gill Iters equipment In Lake Ontario and are part of the planted by the State of New York In the spring of Hundreds of Browns Were discovered at the Robert Saunders Dam and the Province of Ontario has not planted Brown Trout for many years They claim that It Is not needed We have enough of them Coho were planted each year since In the Credit River and this was in creased to in 1973 and doubled to in The result of this stocking program is very evident today It is also plainly obvious that the lam prey side Is working The salmon caught are nice clean fish if taken before they reach Streetsvllle It was also a good year for commercial fisheries million pounds of fish were caught These gained an in come for the fishermen of 363 272 A look at the chart of taken species and tonnage recorded by the ministry of natural resources shows species White Bass Yellow Perch and Walleye are in tnis list although they fail to mention how many salmon and trout were taken There Is however one Item on the list that Is curious Animal unclassified for a total weight of 818 pounds I wonder what these may bo OH YES LAKE TROUT Total take for was 112 pounds Who would even think of planting Walleye plckeral in Fairy Lake in Acton When was the last time you fished there It is so baa that you don t cast more then a few feet at a time I have fished there several times this year and the bass and pike fishing Is fair The bass are hard to find and the pike are mostly small but Walleye PHEASANT HUNT AT SIB BALD POINT This area is open every day except Sunday till November and the limit is two birds per hunter These are quite often taken in a very short time and hunters must register and check back in at noon When all are In at least one bird per hunter registered is released These are stocked birds that are crossed tame stock to provide a bird that Is very wild and more hardy than the wild stock alone This makes for a more challenging hunt where the bird has the best advantage If you take your deer or moose hide to the collection station at or Midhurst your name wltl be entered in a draw for made to rn sure deer or moose hide Jacket mitts and slippers While on the subject of deer I think of the effect of the proposed pipeline Everyone has his say on it and so called experts say that the line will have no effect on the animals I saw a film some time ago and it showed a deer so afraid of a twoinch Irrigation pipe laying on the ground that It was several minutes before he would cross over it He tried to go to the end of it but the pipe was too long and the dilemma of the deer was very prevalent So much for pipe lines And to close a quote from a book by Bob Turnbull of the Globe and Mail Crisis On The Credit from 1963 It is a fair country this the Credit River Valley and not the least reluctant lo share its secrets with those who love the outofdoors but it Is pale shadow of its abundant past A lot has been done since that book stirred the Ire of many and the action of others But
