man at last Thursday af ternoon at Lord Elgin High School in Burlington than GDHS swim coach Bill Balfour As his team had only one in he water prior to e meet Coach Balfour did not set his sights too high as far as points were concerned However the teams efforts both surprised and pleased him As he remarked later We did very very well A lot better than I expected The Juniors finished third with points Nelson High School with points and Oak villeTrafalgar High School with points were first and second respectively in that division In the senior division Georgetown again finished third with St points Oakvllle- High School finished second with points while Nelson High school completely dominated garnering lie points The other two schools competing in the meet had much larger teams than did Georgetown and were thus able to flood the pool at times with swimmers who picked up points merely for being in the water Coach Balfour is hoping to have a much larger team when the next meet comes up The team may have been small but their enthusiasm and team spirit far outshone both Nelson and Oak v Me Trafalgar and was certainly responsible for some outstanding per formances Team cantaln John rail meeting of the Ontario Minor Soccer Association In Toronto With me was Bryan Turner Chief Referee Also in attendance was Baddy Smedema president of the Georgetown Minor Soccer Association This was my first attendance at a meeting of this kind and my Immediate Impression was that Georgetown must have strong representation at all these meetings Decisions are being made by the OMSA which affects every boy playing minor soccer Representation In strength will preserve and promote the Interests of Georgetown Minor Soccer This meeting in particular provided In formation about a new provincial soccer program Structured on a regional basis the emphasis is to provide every opportunity to all boys to represent the province of Ontario me will soon provide more specific details on how Georgetown can participate Two reports were Included at this meeting by Haddy regarding the Eastern Canadian Finals and the Ontario Squirt Division Georgetowns participation in these areas was appreciated by the OMSA executive This type of Interest and effort from a member of our Association can only benefit minor soccer in our area and again hlghlltes the necessity of keeping In touch as much as possible to all affairs Minor soccer wanfs you By Harry President Georgetown MSA As advertised in our local newspapers on Sunday December the annual meeting of the Georgetown Minor Soccer will be held Community Centre 1 at in the morning It Is needless to say that It will be an important meeting and that It is In the best Interests of many Georgetown fathers and mothers to attend At least I like to think in terms of many people being interested in this meeting knowing that more than 1000 boys or girls took part in our program during 1974 and who knows what the In crease will be for 1975 If any of your boys or girls Intend to play soccer In 1975 this meeting should have you In attendance We are proud of the fact that we have good parental support 131 people are registered as paid members and have voting rights at this meeting More will have the opportunity to become a paid member before the meeting to be eligible to vote We are also proud to know that regardless how many people attend the association will have a full executive for 1975 Many soccer people have indicated they will be available for the executive of which some are executive members at the moment but It la up to the membership to elect the people of their choice will largely depend on them Soccer may be played during months only but it is up to the membership to elect the people of their choice 1975 will largely depend on them Soccer may be played during the summer months only but for the executive It Is a Job for 12 months of hard work A good number of proposed admendmenta and changes to the constitution were submitted by the membership an in dlcation of activity among soccer people Some of these proposed amendments will Involve you directly They deal with a second general meeting every year registration fees membership fees Interlocking soccer games players tutlon duration of games the event of a team winning a game by forfeit the event of a tie In final league point ding responsibility of coaches and managers Why dont you decide with us what is good or not good for our association Many more things will have to be discussed It may lead to restricted registration or coaches and managers to be registered first and registration of boys and girls later It will Involve and Peel Pine view and many more things We had more than 120 coaches and managers and more people working In many committees during 1974 We may need many more for bo I can only say your at tendance will be appreciated and Is necessary to make the 1975 season a success were third in the 150 metre
