Among the people who were present to honour Mac were his four children Mr and Mrs Rosa Mr and Mrs Doug McGllvray daughter Carol Mrs Rich mond and daughter Gal Seated at the head table were daughter Gail Em and Garfield McGllvray William Evdoklmoff publisher of the and Mrs a Mrs Johnson Mr Johnson Is the production supervisor for Thompson Newspaper Other special guest for the evening Included Walter o former publisher of the Herald for many years and YEARS OF SERVICE are represented on this plaque which Garfield Mac McGllvray displays to the 75 people who came to honor him at his retirement party Friday January On the plaque Is a copy of the first Issue Mac worked on dated December 1928 and a copy of his last issue dated January 1978 Mrs Douglas daughter the late J M Moore second publisher of the Georgetown Herald On behalf of the Georgetown Fall Fair Board of which Garfield Is an honorary director immediate past president of the board Charles Fog a I presented Mac with a winter scene oil painting by well known local artist Wllma was a for teacher at Chapel Street Public School and taught all of the McGllvray children Bill Johnston editor of the Herald presented Garfield with a caricature portrait by Herald cartoonist Greg Landry Dave Hastings presented Mac with a plaque which Incorporated a copy of the first issue Mac had produced in and the last Issue Mac worked on last William on behalf of all the present and past employees of the Georgetown Herald presented Garfield with a cuff link and tie clip set made from linotype matlca with which Garfield hod
