LETTERS TO THE EDITOR GDHS play review upsets reader To the editor of The Herald In your vain attempt to critic al duty In adjudicating the GDHS music production How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying 1 like to point out that you ve missed the point entirely Even If you did know any thing about theatre or drama critique which you obviously don t no one In your reading audience gives a hoot what you think Except the proud par teachers of this wood troupe of more than young people who worked hard together In a spirit of unity overcoming obstacles over which they had no control the limited facilities they had on a shoestring budget to create an enjoyable production Surely you must realize that these are not aspiring Robert or budding Fawcctts heading for the big time These arc our children our future citizens and leaders a bunch of school kids engaged in a learning situation It mat tern not whether the produc Hon was a success or a failure for lies in the fact lhaltheydldit well They succeeded in spar king school spirit and en thus I asm that rubbed off on not only the students but the whole community Theirs was a vital and grow ing experience as the detlicat youngsters worked long and hard for many weeks making mistakes and learning from them and developing and work habits they will carry with them through out their lives The important thing Is these are channeling iheir energies They re nol cop ping out with booze and drugs They re not hanging around street comers getting into trouble or complaining there nothing to do in Georgetown like so many unmotivated kids of Many of the cast and crew were also involved in the Georgetown Little Theatre production The straw Prin ceil the same time which meant three hour rehearsals everyday after school besides three nights a week rehearsing with as well as keeping up me were only too proud to suffer numb bums and strain necks and put up with the inadequate facilities to witness Ihe resourcefulness of this creative band of youths and the clever way in which they made do with what little they hod lo work with Lome Duck In the mid 1 the Lame Duck became a oi one of America oldest political animals Georgetown citizens can give The Acton Citizens Band members will continue lo sup port them at no charge and hope that Ihe Santa Claus parade tradition in George- Pol voice thanks To the Ctlizens of Region May I lake opportunity on behalf of the Reg Police Force to express our most sincere appreciation the many citizens who have by letter by phone and by personal contact voiced sup port for their Force during the recent allegations of police The very unprofessional way in which the members of our Force have been criticized and indeed tried without a trial has certainly given us cause for concern In our society even the foulest of criminals ore given protection and this is as it should be However In my opinion this was denied to the members of our Force Thank you ogam for your support quitting of Paul Robinson as coach of the local Junior B Gem In Is Unfortunately It is the fate of coaches in sports to suffer when their teams are going well seldom is the blame directed towards the main However it was a comment published by this paper about Paul which prompted me lo write this letter The suggestion that Paul was a fat and lazy hockey player was unjustified and unnecessary Having played on the same line with Paul for a number of years I can honestly say he was a hardworking and player and I am sure ail of Paul teammates would echo the same sentiments We dldn 1 win our champion ships being fat and lazy If Ihe Georgetown Gemlnis can find a coach to replace Paul who will offer as much dedication and willingness to work wilh young boys they will be very lucky or the Paul
