Sharpies led the Scouts in the Nor Jamb Cheer for Scouter Dave Shrubsolc for nil of his work to help moke the camp a success Provincial SWEEPSTAKES WIN TICKETS hosts 215 Beavers Big year as Lions Club marks 50th The Lions Club of Georgetown will be the Fiftieth Anniversary of Its rounding Feb The Club was chartered Feb and to celebrate rent will be hosting a Dinner and Dance In Holy Cross The committee for this most important event has made a special effort to contact all former members of the club and response to date has been excellent Former members will be coming from as far away as North Bay fortunately some Invitations have been returned with addresses unknown If any former Lions of the Georgetown Club have been mined please do not hesitate to call Fred Members or the Lions Club are extremely grateful to the town or Hills for proclaiming the week of February I as Liens Week In Georgetown This Sunday Feb I the Club will be entering three teams In the District Bowling Tournament In Erlndale to try and retain the Championship It won at last years tournament On Thursday Feb members of the Club will be taking part In the taping of a half boor V program on Cable to be shown the evening of Feb Tie program will provide some of the highlights of the past M years and will bring viewers up to date with some current Lions projects and plans for the future The clubs dance annual North Halton District Beaver Winter Cam ival was held Saturday at Mountsberg Wildlife Centre Most of this property was bought by he Region Conservation Authority in The first big project was building the reservoir and dam In the main building was started and was completed in ready for educational classes and many other features Sugar Bush Troll Wild life Walkway Trail Pioneer Creek Trail Observation Tower and a Cross Country Ski Trail Two hundred and fifteen Beavers invaded this area along with GO leaders and parents The boys were divided up Into six groups and the full schedule was drawn up so each group rotated around to all of the various activities The hay ride to the toboggan area was popular as was the horse drawn Skating on the pond with the parents and leaders was sue ccasful too A visit to the barn and the nature walk was enjoyed by all and the boys liked the whltetailed deer elk and buffalo A well deserved rest watching a film In the Inter Centre was followed by a Nature talk which was well presented by Douglas known to the Beavers as Douglas spoke on the star- nosed mole racoon mink and hawk which had been stuffed and mounted and he had a live kestrel hawk and Oscar a screech owl A question and answer period followed Mr Douglas talk and everyone left with a better understanding of the wildlife Lunch was cooked by the parents id a wooded area at the edge of the skating pond Seats were provided for each group with the camp fires In the squared area The opening and closing was led by Beaver Leader Walter Buchan 1st George town Colony Main organizers for this event were Harold 1st Acton who was chairman Jennifer Kllpln 1st Georgetown A colony Benton 1st Lime- house Bob Rodrlgue Georgetown A colony District Commissioner Steve Thompson and Mrs Thompson
