passing a significant milestone of its Hoi ton County politicians and local businessmen gathered at the Georgetown Legion HallJan 27 for the Inauguration of the Georgetown Junior Chamber of Commerce Twenty years later the same organization now simply referred to as the Jaycees continues to make significant contributions to the community as a whole and Georgetown businesses The local organization has regularly published a community business directo ry for 17 years and periodic ally offers courses on how to organize and run commit tees parliamentary proce dure and personal develop ment courses especially attractive to young es and businessmen With their most recent educative proposal on public speaking But the public is already fa miliar with the community spirit the organization has shown especially within the last decade During this period the Jaycees moved toward a wider crosssection of male workers and dropped the Junior Chamber or Commerce tag to attract younger members The annual Crazy Boat Race the Georgetown bonechilling spllls- and thrills nautical advent down the Credit River has given the local organize province- wide recognl lion Every year it attracts more and more contestants launching a variety of craft some of even less seafaring character than their skippers Its an enormous organizational feat for the small group the Georgetown Jayceea have approximately 30
