this year or additional grants Councillors Inst Wednesday defeated a recommendation from the administration and finance committee which would have quashed any reconsidering fund ing allocations this year for Helping Hands and the Hoi ton branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses VON While a third organization Womens Place did not receive an additional grant it sought from the region Hal ton Helping Hands an organization which provid es domestic services for elder ly and Invalid homeowners was denied a increase In its grant The VON had asked that an extra be March wedding for local girl St Johns minute failed to come through She said the three organizations should have he opportunity to seek more funds but council should not open up the doors to listen to appeals across the board With no contingency funds established for groups future appeals might be granted on a limited basis from other accounts In the regions health or social services budgets No dumping here An Interim garbage dump
