HENRY J STANLEY Halloa COMPENSATION TO GRAIN PRODUCERS FOR SOVIET GRAIN EMBARGO Agriculture Minister Eugene and Wheat Board Minister Argue cod Canadian grain farmers will receive million in compensation for losses result from the 1980 partial embargo on grain sales to the USSR Compensation will be paid on wheat oats barley and com covering the period to July 31 1380 Ontario winter wheat produ cere will also be paid directly using delivery records of the Ontario Wheat Producers Marketing Board However corn growers and others not covered by these direct pay ments will be required to complete individual appilca tion forms and document the sales on which they are claim compensation Detailed Information on those res will be announced shortly Only grain sold commercially will be covered by the pay ments The net pricereducing effect of the embargo has been calculated at per tonne for wheat about 16 cents per bushel per tonne for barley about 11 cents per bushel per tonne for corn about 14 cents per bushel oats about 5 cents per bushel Oilseeds and other grains arc not covered by the grain embargo compensation payments as government actions had virtually no effect on
