recruits Parents will have a chance to meet the supervisors personally June 17 starting at at Public School The department will introduce the supervisors and outline opportunities for the children this summer Parents of disabled children are specially urged to attend The department plans to have specially trained staff avail able to children with special needs into the activity centre of their choice Following are brief profiles of this summers program supervisors Susan Is a Child Studies major at the ty of Guelph This will be her fifth year with the Recreation Department having expert an I a Summer Activities Leader and also a Supervisor Susan la looking forward to a successful summer as Summer Activities This Is Tina McGrath sixth year working for the on Department Tina has watched tho Tot Lot program grow and expand as she was a leader when it was first offered two years ago and has been with the program She has lota of Innovative ideas for this summers program as supervisor of our two Tot Lot Centres Janet Is a graduate of the Early Childhood Educe program from Sheridan College She a special interest in children with needs Janet has worked at day camps and was a leader with our lost summer This year Janet will be supervising our Summer Activity Centres which will also Include a French Centre Heather Gage has had five yean camp counselling expe rience She enjoys wilderness camping and canoeing She is eager to share her new Ideas with us as Day Camp Super visor It is her first year with the Helton Hills Recreation Department Lee Johnson a physical education student at McMaster University returns for her fifth year with the Hills Recreation Department Her background with the department originates with gymnastics where she began as a coach Lee has completed her second year study at McMaster University where she also trained on the Varsity women a gymnastic team She is anticipating a most Interesting and enjoyable summer as supervisor of Gymnastic Camp Jill McKtlvey has been Programs for handicapped Hoping to reduce its financial support for summer recreational programs the North Association for the Mentally Retarded is about to consider recommendations that among other things will ask the town recreation department to provide summer programs for handicapped children directors will consider proposals to have handicapped children integrated with regular programs where possible and to have the handicapped children parents pay the full fee charged by the town for her leadership qualities In both school ties and services Jill has worked with
