St Johns Stewarttownl Family By J Herald correspondent Stow rtto St John s Anglican Church celebrated the coming of its anniversary with a Christmas Eve of Holy Com which the congregation was with hot spiced eld and Christmas cake Rev John Roberts conducted the service and the music was pro vided by Mrs Belly daughter of Mr Sam Mlleham Among the congregation was our oldest member year old Mr Gilbert English Mr English has been an active member for many years and had always completed the annual church St John s formerly the Church of England was founded Jan 10 1034 and Is the oldest surviving of this area for a radius of some miles first church for which BO British pounds had been collet ted was built on the crest of the hill on the cemetery properly The BO pounds was a large sum Laughter brings to mind the Georgetown Little Theatre production of The Man Most Likely To This British farce was well received Music of course recalls the Globe Production presentation of as well as the Grease Both excellent examples of musical theatre Concerts of course brought many diverse musical styles to us Local groups such as the Georgetown Choral Society and the Con tame Singers were especially welcome From the outside world came the classical sounds of The York Winds as well as music of The Good Brothers and the piano perfection of John Arpln Many excellent programs for children were provided by the University Women Club ihe two Hills Public Libraries and the Recreation Department An art exhibit which has stayed In my mind is Our Good the Thanksgiving Exhibition at Gallery of Cultural Ccnlre In consisted of art works from different Canadian artists The works of local artists were Intermingled with Hint of some of Canada most painters For fun I first looked at the paintings without checking the artists names I chose my three favorites then discovered thai lo of them by local artists I sure that each of you has your own special memories of Hopefully year ahead will bring
