Disarmament Ontario Hydro load carried by consumer passing on increased costs along to the con sumer No longer can industry pass on Increa costs Rather it is that Industry become more cost effective with increased productivity to be able to absorb more increased costs The loss of lobs caused by imported cs continues to plague the automobile Industry particularly In Southern Ontario How much time will be passed before Hills Commissioners in their wisdom to build a new World Class Halton Hills Hydro unl tied one building palace These concerns are manifested In our fruitless attempts to attract new industry to Hills only to have these prospective industries frightened off by high taxes and high energy costs Is It not time lo manage Halton Hills In a similar manner to any well run business A well run business today dees not just pass on an increase lis custom era Rather they nego tiate cost reductions with suppliers seek cost culling systems and insist on freezing wages Increased in all areas My concerns are shared by many other Halton Hills residents Energy costs are a significant portion the operating expense of every borne and To the editor of The Herald Two shocks came in one envelope from Halt on Hills Hydro today One was the size of the hydro bill for Jan 16 The second was a rate Increase card for 1964 This rate card shows an increase In the cost of power purchased by Hills Hydro Commission from Ontario Hydro of a per cent Kills Hydro Commission found It necessary pass on an increase of per cent effective Jan 1 We have not been assur ed that this will be the only 19B4 rate Increase At one time we in Ontario were able to say that we were bless with low cost hydro electric power that was before the complete mismanage ment of Ontario Hydro As glaring examples we should look at Wes ley Pipe Pickering and other financial disasters Next we should look at the degrading debt load by Ontario Hydro In reality the debt load la carried by the consumer as evidenced by the continued price Increase passed on by Ontario Hydro The Halton Hills Hydro Commission is part of the problem as it continues to pass on that increase without attempting to bold back the cost of doing bus trass Even the automo tive Industry has RJ Stuart its errors In Georgetown Peace is above party politics To the editor of The Herald Peace plan is for Parliamentarians says Regional endorsed the Global Nuclear Disarm Proposal and when a clear majority of voters throughout the country who had an opportunity to vote on this question voted In favour then I would think elected representatives is Canadians want peace This above party politics peace Is our chosen goal When this question comes to Regional Council I hope each member will think back to the referendum and vote as constituents did Moulded 2000 booklets to smokers Herald Special Over 2000 self help booklets were issued in the Georgetown area during the recent tele vision series designed to help those who wonted
