up Is how Dave described his climb through the Royal Canadian Legion offices After an over year involvement with the Legion Mr became Dominion Command President in June 1983 at Quebec City Starting a two year term as head of the Royal Canadian Legion he left office this year In Winnipeg You can do It without a lot of help from various people In the local legions and It depends on your peers whether they like you or not Mr said He became the president of the Georgetown Legion branch In 1960 a position he held for three year From there he went on to become deputy zone district president In 1975 he served for two years as the Provincial President and in 1978 became a vice president of the Dominion Command He was elected for the First VicePresident of the Dominion Command In 1980 and from there Mr Capperauld said there really no one around to challenge you and from that position you usually become president although there no written rule During his presidency Mr Capperauld travelled to such places as Australia Taiwan Jamaica Barbados England and France On these visits he would exchange ideas with other Legions around the world In the hopes that both organizations would benefit As a wedding gift to Prince Charles and Lady Diana the Royal Canadian Legion donated for furnishings to the Terry Fox Centre in Ottawa When the royal couple visited Canada Georgetown Dave Joined the Legion worth it he says By ROBIN Herald Staff After IB years as a mechanic Andy Clark licence may now be worth little more than a wail hanging His eight year business in Georgetown Andy Impart Auto Service is now closed due to the carbon monoxide poisoning he says he is suffering from Last year Mr Clark suffered constant headaches from November February and rather than go through the ordeal again has decided to quit He said he knew what caused headaches last year but chose lo put It behind him and hoped it was a temporary thing Although Mr Clark has always used an exhaust system which Involves a rubber hose connected from the exhaust pipe of the car to the outside of the shop he is still suffering Right now I feel the safest thing I con do Is get the hell out of it It hard to drop IB years and do something else but that s something I have to figure Mr Clark said Through a friend who is Involved with hospital activities Mr Clark said he learned that carbon monoxide poisoning first gives you headaches ihtn affects your heart and brain I don t want to know was reason he gave for not seeing a doctor According to Margaret Youmans from Lung Association cases where carbon monoxide art high enough in the blood to cause headaches arc not that common You dhuvc to be constantly exposed over a long period of lime she said Mrs Youmans said the blood would return lis normal levels after about
