comes by the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club where Kemp once a week and spends time with us as a group Kemp said He said our sport Is one of the most difficult because as a skater have to competed in the junior mens class for the first time and after having taken part in the novice class last year noticed a big difference First of all in the skaters arc required lo skate three rounds instead of two in novice The extra round consists of a short program of two minutes or less where skaters must perform seven compulsory events The other two are figures and the long program The compulsory one of the seven events Kemp the first good shape After the figures he stood in third spot but by his own admission the short com pulsory event was go lo be the key to his success Kemp won the short program but the leaders d not roller very much so he stood in third place overall after wo events But Kemp made up he difference in the long program and skated well enough finish he competition in second place overall I pleased myself in he short program Kemp said It was a as a first year kid and I showed could do Instead of having to walch out for a lot of the compel I pre a lot of them wen having to watch out for me now It opened a lot of eyes Ai impressive Kemp placing because he finished second despite a bad cold his accompl was mcining one 1 got this sickness about two weeks before Sectionals and I felt good up until the compe tition final day he did hamper my workouts I could only train I ghtly but what was I going to do One week before Sectio nals take lime off so just went light and stayed on the skates Kemp will training for the rial Skating competition slated for Quebec January he can finish In the top four there he will qualify for the Canadian junior men champ unships I Just wanted to finish in the top four in the Sectionals and that all I like at the rials he said I like lo qualify for Cano but Im taking it one thing at a time Andrew of the Georgetown Figure Skat ng Club also took part in the competition finishing fourth overall He will also be heading Quebec Jan to compete In the Division champ Ions h GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONS of
