Jury wants land issue resolved at Cataract Herald A jury recommended that land surrounding the Cataract Falls near be purchased by the Ministry of Natural Resources after investigating the deaths of two Brampton men The jury completed their report Friday after two young men ages 21 and drowned In the Credit River in May About a 30 minute drive from Halton Hills the Cataracts are a favorite spot with locals and many who live outside the region Any of the land not owned by the ministry should be purchased and a park be built without delay the jury recommended Admitting the area is heavily used by the public the Jury suggested a number of extra fences need to be constructed on the side of the river where an old powerhouse is located The report said access to the old buildings near the river should be blocked by an a foot high fence angled at the top by barb wire Signs should also be posed near the powerhouse Indicating that violators will be prosecuted the jury said The Ministry of Natural Resources needs to erect a plaque noting the history of the abandoned powerhouse and emphasizing the deaths that have occurred at the Falls the report noted Signs should be placed up and down the river near alls Indicating that no swimming or alcoholic beverages are allowed the jury Consideration must be given to hire a pert time person to help the park attendant the report noted Four
