last game with Fort Frances was of no meaning to the playoff pairings but the Rebels finished the tourney off with a 1511 victory Rebels coach Grant said he was disappointed with the teams end result hi the tournament Mystery Geminis split puck contests Georgetown Geminis continue be somewhat of a mystery team this season The Central Ontario Junior 8 Hockey squad can day with the best the league has to offer as seen In Wednesdays win over Mimico But the Gemfnis have trouble beating the teams they should be handily dominating like Saturdays loss to cellardwellar Nobleton We had a strong showing against Mimico and had a strong showing the first period against said Georgetown coach Jules But after the first period we decided not to play defensive hockey and the boys went out trying to pad their goal totals statement can be solid ly backed up with game statistics Georgetown jumped out to a lead over in the first period the visitors 157 But in the second and third frames Geminis Joe faced 31 shots 18 In the second In the third while his mates had 16 shots on the goal You can t fault Joe at all Russian said I thought he had an excellent second period and kept us In it fact had ft not been for Joe we would have been losing the game going Into the third period rather than being tied M finally scored three times in the last four minutes for the win Rod and Brad had two goals each for the while Wayne Morrow and Terry the others Joe O Toole had two asslits To date Georgetowns record stands at seven wins ID losses and six ties The Geminis points puts them In seventh spot two points behind four behind Vaughn and six behind Burlington Streetiville is on top with 31 points 1 The Geminis played Tuesday in Vaughn and are in Friday Saturday Georgetown hosts Burlington at the Alcott Arena starting at from the win over It was disappointing in the sense that we were a few points away from accomplishing what we wanted berth in quarterfinals he said Itwasnt because we werent good enough We lost our composure and just couldnt get it back Clatworthy pointed to the deciding game with Chatham Kent as the pinnacle of his clubs fortunates in the tournament That was the most frustrating thing about it be said I thought we outplayed them took away the net and forced them into tipping the ball Our transition wasnt there Theres no way they should have scored nine points on U3 to win the last game But thats when we lost our cool and you could see some of the inexperience coming through If we played as well as we re capable of we could have finished in our pool he said Heading Into the tournament Georgetown hadnt received a seeding However for and his team that was fine because other teams t likely take the Rebels very seriously In their opening match it was clear Georgetown could play with Frontenac as Georgetowns opponents didnt show anything spectacular But the Rebels got out of the chute late and couldnt nail down the win They were a good team move ment wise but I was on the bench sitting on the edge of my chair hoping we would take control early because they werent playing well But our guys got flatter and they came up big we couldnt pass the ball he said Despite the loss the fortunes for the Rebels look good for next year A solid nucleus from the starting rotation returns Graham Shepherd Pat Bra tin Jon Hammer and possibly Brent along with regulars Paul Chaffe and Pierre Chaisson As well members of this years Junior championship squad will be coming up Starters Louis and Jeff Janss- with Jay Corson are the only players not returning
