Director Rash Mohammed told The Herald terms of reference have been approved for the In house study already and now the meat of the matter is under conslderat ion to see what industry will bear If industry pay for it it Is comingoutoftaxpayers pockets Mr Mohammed said of regional capital Ho said the last council policy opposed charging regional lot levies to industrial and commercial develop ments in region It docsn mean to say the new council won impose them Mr Mohammed said We have to raise that issue with the new council and they have to say how much they value new growth in terms of the mill rate Right now only the town council charge lot levies to new developments The regional planner said previous regional councils have said they were willing for taxpayers to pay the cost of capital spending for regional services like sewer and water works and not charge the new Industries for it Mr Mohammed said new Industr lea bring additional traffic to a road and increase road maintenance and upgrading costs for the region These are capital costs that taxpayers arc absorbing in their regional tax bills If the trucks weren t using the road you have to spend the money to repair it Mr Mohammed said The Georgetown Chamber of Com merce is considering sending a letter to region asking that Halton Hills not be included In any regional plan to charge additional lot levies
