Cindy Clarke Herald Master Bantam runnerup A Georgetown Bowl team felt lust short of claiming the Master Bantam Provincial Championships held recently The team of Master Andy Parent and Bantams Cindy Clarke and Chris Wilkes were runners- up in the championship losing to a Slrcetsvllle Bowl team by a pins The Georgetown team reached the provincial championship by winning qualifying round at on March 13 A total of 30 teams took part In the championship with the irst round a pinsover average com petition on the three gome total Georgetown finished first In the round and received a ye to the final while the second and third place teams battled It out in a semifinal for the other champion ship berth who finished second in the preliminaries won their semifinal and then went on to defeat Georgetown in the championship Combo takes zone title Another success story has developed on the Georgetown bowl ing scene as a three- man combo team qualified Tor the provincial finals The team of Bantam Martin Johnston Junior Robert Harrison and Senior Chris Somers bombed their opposition at the Zone Pinal hosted by Applewood Lanes Sunday as they competed under the com and rig eye of their divisions although they Independents had to go down to the lost set of mat se Hustlers lenders Panthers Ensigns Golden Flights Firemen Hustlers came through undefeated whereas lost one match Westerners held on to the runner up spot in the first as did Bulldogs in the second In the tap match of the first set Hustlers took three over lenders for whom Ray shot 140 Murphy had two starts and a 140 in the match with Independents Ian MacDonald had two starts and a finish as Jim Nicholson started two Firemen were against Ensigns and went down by the five games with Harry Bottoms knocking for 114 Exports scored well in the set with Panthers yet went down by to the Panther finishing in the last three games Pete Pickering shot 180 in this one Firemen took the first and last game against Hustlers for a spirited showing Brian Beaumont and Ron Scarlett both hit 140 in the win Then Panthers beat Flights lo round off their play Henry Graham shot and Ed Peterson finished on 107 as Mike Pepper had a high score of 100 Wcstenders had another close game winning over Ensigns Another ton from Ray Ackroyd and one from Ken Baker were highlighted Another strong per formance from Pete Pickering was to no avail as Exports lost 23 again The team scored well and again sue cum bed to the opposition closing out In the second division High Rollers lifted themselves into third place with two victories First the win over come in the last two games Aces then came through over Bandits by the same score Rick Harden opened three and clos ed out one Don had another hot night in Snowjacks win with two starts and three finishes on double four The win gave the playoff title as he other results showed no one could catch them Rollers defeated Aces by 41 in a valiant effort too little too late for the lads on this occasion Bulldogs had a great try also in beating Inter County to finish one point behind first place Old rivals Bandits and Bandits a That brings us to the close of the season However darts will continue at the Legion through the summer with the usual blind draw games of partners until the new season comes around at ht end of August See you then Second Division High Rollers Bandits Inter County Aces A total of seven new club records were set by members of the Blue Fins Swimming Club as they com at a meet In Pickering held April 10 All the local competitors made loo butterfly and was also fourth in the backstroke Amy had a fifth in the 100 m backstroke In the same age group the girls under 10 age group Krista captured two gold medals for the m freestyle and
