coalition organized by the Hal ton Social Plan ning Council The meeting will be held Thurs day May as at m at the Regional Municipality of s Head quarters on Bronte Oakville This new coalition Is being formed In response to a provincial Initiative entitled Access to Permanent Housing Committees This has been undertaken to encourage development of local housing com mitteea throughout the province provide a community focus on local housing issues and ensure that those in need have access to housing In addition to providing a focus for local housing Issues this coalition will be responsible for reviewing and setting priority of proposals for sup port services that are submitted by community agencies or groups and making recommendations to Province on those that should receive funding Under the pro gram funding would be cost shared by the Province and Regional Municipality Any organization or agency in terested in making a submission under this program Is encouraged to attend the tint meeting of the coali tion and to begin the preparation of a proposal for submission early in June This first meeting of the new nous ins coalition will establish terms of reference for the coalition discuss possible services that may be con sldered for submission and establish a work plan for reviewing and prlorizing program proposals The meeting is open to anyone in the 700 pm A they succeeded in turning their tiny store Into a popular meeting place for young teens High school students can often be seen wandering over to Kay during their lunch and spare periods in order to gather with friends or to grab a bite to cat The tiny room has been com furnished over the years and Is now equipped with a jukebox television set and a selection of video games which were installed for the enjoyment Comic store owner Larry Clark says that he used to hang out at Kays when he was a student at Georgetown High ve known Kay for years and she has always cared a great deal about the kids In the community She and George have always been there lo give them an even break to help could always go to Kay If you had a problem Kay and George have made many long lasting friendships throughout the years and Kay speaks with pride as she reminisces about old times One year the kids all got together and baked me a cake especially for my birthday Kay says that she was so touched by
