doing that every day I was getting killed in the longer runs early in the season but after two or three months I was do ing well he said Ive also ex perienced less injuries than I did when I was training less While Purdue is known academically for its engineering course Paul is studying physical education and he said the classroom schedule is no less demanding Ive got 730 am classes every morning so I have to get up at six to get a 40minute run he says recounting the dally routine After breakfast its straight to class where youre usually half asleep By the end of the term I was pretty tired Id come back to the dorm from class and just sleep for two or three hours But Its all just a matter of adjusting In the aftermath of Ben Johnson affair at the Seoul Sum mer Olympics Paul says hes the butt of some goodnatured ribbing Yeah I get a lot of jokes about be ing Canadian he laughed But steroid abuse is a senous matter at Purdue with all varsity athletes submitting to urine tests
