Packaging Minor Peewee Chiefs travelled to Blenheim on Jan 2122 and participated in the 16th Annual Golden Acres Peewee Tournament Georgetowns opponent in their first tournament game was the AAA club from Windsor Wind sor started quickly and built a lead early in the second period The Packaging squad began to assert themselves and were rewarded as Erler scored a goal assisted by Jamie Stephenson and Brent Wilkinson A late second period goal by Sheppard from Stephen Onopri- jenko and Jim KatsUieris brought the Minor to within one An early third period lapse during which time Windsor counted two goals proved Georgetowns undo ing as they were relegated to the consolation round in the loss Goalie John Waller and his team mates were certainly not outclass ed in this contest The Minor did however outclass their next oppo nent as they easily defeated Woodstock by a score of Chad Hughes earned the shutout in the Packaging net Offensive ly Sheppard counted one goal and two assists Duke been contacted by both the Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals The Minor faced Niagara Falls in the consolation championship game Packaging fell behind early but Onoprijenko converted a fine Shep pard pass to even the score at one Some loose play by Georgetown allowed Niagara Falls to take a 31 lead made a quick move around a Niagara Falls defenceman and skated in alone and deked the helpless goalie to make the score Stephen earned an assist on the play A late second period and ear ly third period goal built the Niagara Falls lead to 52 However the Domtar Packaging side refused to saves throughout the contest While the Minor Peewees did not claim a trophy they were unanimous in their appreciation to the Blenheim community which hosted an excellent tournament and through their
