Georgetown Inc St Hay Mounlalnvtow Halloa Oorglon 8775285 Ton Tired Georgetown team exits OMHA series Peewees lose OT thriller The Georgetown Major Peewee AA Dodge team had some very stiff competition travelling to Blenheim on Jan 21 to play in a tournament Despite some excellent play the team came home without any hardware but they did have a great time with old and new friends In game one they were matched up against last years OMHA champions from Chatham Georgetown skated well with Chatham for two periods but began to tire in the third Sean Mills played an outstanding game In net and kept them in the game The on ly goal by the locals came in the third by Paul Kalbarski from Jim and Matt Downs The game ended 51 for Chatham Game two on Jan was against the hardhitting team They were trying to intimidate Georgetown but the locals stood their ground At the end of the first Georgetown was down with the goal by Ryan Pine and the assists going to Derek Parsons and Matt Downs Parsons scored again in the se cond unassisted to tie up the game 2 2 Despite excellent play in net by Trevor Knight Georgetown ReMax Dodge couldnt hold off the bigger and stronger team in the third and were put out On Jan 23 the locals travelled to Creek to play their last league game knowing that the out come of the game didnt affect the standings Georgetown was scheduled to play Stoney Creek in the first round of the playdowns The first and only goal scored In the game by Georgetown was by Randy Bond and assisted by Bobby Campbell Tired from their weekend and having only 10 skaters Georgetown wasnt able to keep up with Stoney Creek and went down to a defeat Thursday Jan 26 the locals once again were on the road to Stoney Creek for the first game of the This must have been a very frustrating game to the Creek as they had just beaten us a few nights ago but tonight they couldnt put anything past us we thought Trevor Knight was unconsaous in net stopping dozens of shots The team was equally impressive trying to score on Stoney Creek but were only able to score one goal in the first period by Jim Kavanaugh from Steve Boyle and Paul Kalbarski This goal looked like it was going to be the winning goal of the game The parents were holding their breath hoping they could hold on because they deserved to win the game but as luck would have it an un fortunate give away in our own end and six skaters for the Creek put the tying goal in the net with 24 seconds on the clock In overtime Knight continued to make key saves but with l 35 in the extra period Stoney Creek scored on a very tired Georgetown team In game two Georgetown had to win or at least tie to continue Trevor Knights excellent play in game one gave him the start in this game Stoney Creek scored first but the locals tied it up at the 159 mark of the first Jim Kavanaugh from Bobby Campbell and Matt Downs The Creek scored again to end the first Stoney Creek scored the only goal in the second to put the locals behind In the third ReMax Dodge came back to score three goals one by Ryan Pirie assisted by Paul Kalbarski and Steve Boyle the two by Bobby Campbell assisted by Randy Bond and Matt Downs and the third of the period by Derek Parsons from Paul Kalbraski This put Georgetown ahead for the first time in the game Stoney Creek came back to tie the game again but the determined locals scored again Parsons from Downs and Bond With the faceoff in Georgetowns end and six seconds on the clock the pressure was on with the net empty at the other end The question on everyones mind was Could they hold Stoney Creek off or was history going to repeat itself With one second on the lock the Creek tied the game and put it into overtime again A very tired Trevor Knight had played another strong game but was by Sean Mills for the overtime period Stoney Creek scored in overtime to put Georgetown Major out of the OMHA playoffs The ReMax Dodge now wait for Tri County playoffs to start late in
