win after Fridays wellplayed albeit losing effort We lost our concentration early in the game The reffing is no excuse youve got to want to win in the playoffs The will to win has got to be bigger than anything else We didnt have it Although minor penalties were fairly even in Saturdays tilt minutes for Oakville for Georgetown referee Bob Morieys style definitely favored the clutchandgrab Blades called mainly offsetting minors and the frustration of Oakvilles closechecking game plan was evident on the Georgetown bench Sturgeon however wasnt prepared to blame anyone outside of the Raider organization for the Raiders series plight When youre in a situation like that down 02 youve got to dig in he said Raiders bounced back from a sixthplace finish last year to end up in fourth spot at the conclusion of the 198889 regular schedule finishing a full seven points ahead of fifthplace Oakville Despite Oakvilles mastery over the Raiders during the regular season six wins in seven Georgetown offence Walker was crediting Oakvilles checking game which has frustrated the Raiders in three straight wins We try to play each team dif ferently said Walker We well were a bunch of buzzers A preplayoff suspension to Alcock for disciplinary reasons meant the muchawaited con frontation between the Central leagues west division MVP and the Raider offensive machine has not materialized But rather than hurt as many suspected Walker feels the absence of Alcock has actually the Blades Everybody counted us out but its turned out to be just the thing we needed he said As a result of letting Kevin go weve had to dig deeper Glen Williams Oakville backup who has played all three has played well The kids understood why we suspended Kevin and theyve ac tually been positive about it Walker admitted he was wor ried during Fridays double over time win by Oakville at home had that breakaway I said it was all over but the crying said Walker referring to a clearcut scoring chance by the Georgetown super sniper in the sudden death period But Glen stopped him with a save you would expect Alcock to make With playing well Walker says he doesnt anticipate returning to the
