resemble many of Rodgers and Hammersteins leading men and ladies In addition to its strong chorus much of the shows strength comes from its five leading performers All have been singing in theatre for a number of years and all bring their special talents to thTs production Profiled here for you are the real people behind Anna Julie Billy Nellie and Will Mariene Johnston hails from Scotland and has been in Canada for 23 years Growing up surround by music Mariene was en couraged to sing at a young age Always active in theatre Mariene joined Globe in 1981 and has been involved in all nine of Globe ma jor productions Some of her most memorable roles include the part of Gouch m and Irene in Hello Dolly In Some En chanted Evening plays the role of Anna a woman whocan be mysterious and sensual one minute and silly the next Anna is like the mainstay in the group of five strong and confident Debbie Tilson received her teaching diplomas in voice and piano from the University of Western Ontarios Conservatory of Music After teaching for years Deb plans to start a music pro gram for preschoolers this fall Some Enchanted Evening is Debs fifth Globe show Many remember her as Kate the fiery leading lady in Kiss Me Kate Debs most recent role was Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly Raised in Georgetown Deb now lives in and is enjoying her life in the country In Some En chanted Evening Deb plays the role of Julie an endearingly playful lady whose spunky nature Often sneaks out Roderick Macintosh is also a Georgetown native Roderick studied music locally reaching Grade 9 voice and Grade 7 piano before heading to Col lege to study general sciences While there Roderick was a lead singer in production of a story about Noahs Ark Rod next headed to the University of Western Ontario and while working on his B A he con tinued studying music and ap peared in Gilbert and Sullivans M S Pinafore After university he joined the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Toronto and in addition to performing in he operated a sound stage for the per forming arts Rod is glad to be back in Georgetown and is excited about performing with Globe and about his role as Billy a dazzler charmer and ladys man with a Georgetown in eluding the leading role of Laurie in Globes Oklahoma While doing all this Lois still finds tune for other roles as mother of three and as general manager of the Georgetown Terminal Warehouse Lois character Nellie is a really fun lady and also a bit of a vamp Phil started doing musicals in high school and has been hooked ever since Phil joined Globe five years ago and hasnt missed a show yet He has per formed in Lil Bngadoon in the role of Charlie Stay Tun Kiss Me Kate and most recent ly as Barnaby Tucker in Hello Dol ly Phi was born Ireland and raised In Georgetown He has studied voice organ and has been involved with church choirs While busy learning his music Phil Is working on a degree in Geography at the University of Toronto Phils character Will is a friendly
