86yearold James Fisher of Georgetown pass ed away April 20 at the Bennett Health Care Centre in Georgetown after a years il lness Jim was one of the old school and always had time for a friend ly visit His love and respect for the land he worked kept him close to the farm and home he was born and brought up on Jim was never too busy to take his turn in conumjnity events and organizations Throughout his long life he held many offices as a member of the Georgetown Fall Fair Board as welt as the Liberal Association and was a director of the Fire Insurance Company The Boston Presbyterian Church member was buried in Green wood Cemetery Georgetown on April The Rev Peter Barrow officiated at the funeral service from the JS Jones and Son Funeral Home Georgetown Pallbearers were Jim Stark Bruce McClure Gordon George Fisher Chisholm Hume and Doug Flower bearers were Alois Keith McKen- John Young Clifford McDonald and Paul Lawson A good friend and neighbor to all Jim is mourned by his wife Jessie as well as several nieces and nephews Sky Dome tour annual yearly bus trip of Norval United Church was a great day for 40 ladies on June 16 Conveners Anne Wilson and Deanna Cleave planned the first stop at SkyDome A guided tour of the worlds most entertainment facility with a revolutionary retractable roof as well as the worlds largest replay screen and scoreboard Also the worlds most unique hotel 70 of- its- 348 rooms and suites overlooking the playing field There are nine ma jor restaurants cafes and lounges and the largest McDonalds in North America It is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball league the home of Toronto Argonauts ball club and other sporting events and concerts There are 53000 seats for baseball seats for football and up to for concerts as well as seats that actually move for best viewing of baseball football and other events After the tour we took a short bus trip to Harbour Front where shopping and browsing was ex citing with countless eating spots by the water front where scenery was beautiful Then again we took another short bus ride to the Theatre where the Hamilton Geritol Follies staged by the Seniors was a tonic for all Beautiful old songs in choir numbers duets and dancing was a real treat to all who enjoy this type of entertainment but very seldom hear it Thanks again to Deanna and Anne and the bus driver we arrived home safely from a great day Local graduate Cleave recent- graduated from the University of Guelph with an Associate Diploma in Agriculture His parents Donald and Deanna Cleave and his grandmother Bertha McKechnie attended the graduation ceremonies held in War Memorial Hall Guelph Rita Deputy Minister of Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food gave the convocation address and Chancellor William A Stewart
