Forum on the weekend Despite equipment troubles and an end of concert thunderstorm it was an excellent show well executed and well received Fifteen minutes before the band appeared it was clear that the au dience had seen s movie with Patrick Swayze an average of five times each The crowd was raucous and enthusiastic and performed the wave for several minutes before settling into a mild roar until Healey came out Then the noise was deafening If could not see his audience he could certain ly hear their approval The band opened with a blues in strumental then went on to Worn Out Blues before performing their hit My Little Girl The selections included John Hiatt s Confidence Man Healey s own Angel Eyes and a rollicking bass inflected of the Doors Roadhouse They ended with See the Light and the encore was That What They Say The trio of Joe on bass Tony Stevens on drums and Healey on guitar were sharp and hot in more ways than one it was steaming on Saturday night Their choice of blues combined with lilting melodies and pretty ballads make the band a front runner for stardom is undoubtedly the centre of the band and his unique playing style is interesting to watch He sits with guitar in lap at centre stage while Rockman whirls around him the only moving member of the group Occasionally Healey jumps up and does a sort of highland jig still playing his guitar m his curious fashion This is a crowd pleasing move and reveals Healey s abilities to play up to bis audience to give them more than just music Healey is relaxed on stage offer ing funny quips and easy humor He has charisma and appeal and given his stunning musical abilities should be able to com mand a huge audience some day If you can catch him while he is still playing the smaller venues it won t be long before hes packing the large halls Guitarist and vocalist Jeff kept the fans rocking during a re cent performance at Ontario Place Healeys different playing style is interesting to watch Photo
