The Georgetown District High School Rebels senior ball team learned lesson over the weekend to be the best you must beat the best The Georgetown lads aren t quite at the pinnacle but it most definitely is within sight The Rebels competed oer the weekend the highly competitive Applewood Heights High School of Mississauga Invitational Volleyball Tournament and came home with a welldeserved bronze medal for their third place finish The tournament attracted 20 high school squads from throughout Ontario most significantly host Applewood and Stratford High School ranked Number One and Two respective ly in preseason high school senior boys volleyball rankings According to Rebels head coach Bob McKay the Georgetown crew was preseason ranked In the top five provincially Going into the tournament the Rebels sported a fine 50 match record in league play In tournament action Georgetown won their own Earh Bird Tournament but finished se cond in both the University of Guelph Open Tournament and the Invita tionalTournjn did m lew first hand their fo prouncial honors At the Lni of Guelph tour nament the finished cond to Strdtford and a the nu tournament the GDHS team claimed the Ontario high school championships The tournament was into four pools and the Rebels swamped pool opponents from Streetsville Gordon Gravdon Grantham and Con federation of Sudburv without a game in the best of three matches In quarter final pla the Rebels dropped Glen Forest High School games In semi final provincial nemesis Stralford once more put a damper on the Rebs champion ship hope- Stratford dropped Georgetown and la to shunt the Rebels into the bronze medal game against High School In the second game against Stratford the Rebels were in front 107 at one point but eventual bowed The
