Thursday came to town for their first encounter of the year and found a tenacious Georgetown Bantam team hungry for their first win of the year It was all Georgetown for the first period with the locals going ahead 30 on goals by Tim Mike Large and Jake with assists to EUard Shaun Curry Brent Coul ing and Steve Wright and M extended their lead going into the second when Mark David scored at the 27 mark assisted by EUard with his second point of the night Dundas staged a small rally get ting two quick goals while Georgetown was but the locals stretched their lead again when Shaun Pearson finish ed off a nice threeway passing play from Wright and Dave Osborne came back less than a minute later with another goal but got it back with his second of the night 14 seconds later when Thomp son fed him a pinpoint pass in front Duplicate bridge George Sargeant and Jack Kaarsemaker were the Number One winners in Duplicate Bridge play this week at Georgetown Branch 120 Royal Canadian Legion Harry and Mike were the Number Two winners while Pat and George Farrow claimed the Number Three win nersspot Duplicate Bridge get togethers are held every Monday afternoon of the net Dundas made a final ef fort to stay in the game with a goal late in the second period But the third period belonged to Georgetown Bantams The prettiest goal of the night was a threeway passing play from and Presswood with Dustin Thompson doing the old spin nerama to pop it Two more unassisted goals from Steve and Chris Barrow finished the game with M and M Pro Sports 9 We needed this win said coach Wright We have been play well enough to win all but one of our games so far and were getting a little tired of being bridesmaids Our commitment to disciplined team play paid off in spades tonight with some very nice three- way passing goals Our team is just starting to show its potential and I hope we can keep it up on Sunday when Creek comes to town They re on top of the league right now and will give us our toughest game to date I m sure Sunday saw exactly that their toughest game of the young season Stoney opened the scoring late in the first period with Georgetown tying it up early in the second when Chris scored assist going to Steve Wright Then Stoney opened it up with three unanswered goals in the se cond to make it Stoney It wasn until late in the third that Georgetown got on the scoreboard again when Barrow put his second of the night in assists again to Wright and Jake Mashinter We knew they were going to be tough said coach John Wight We played well but this night they were season County Hockey League record to a with a pair of wins over the weekend Saturday evening the Sunny Acres crew travelled to Victoria Park Arena for a clash with Chinguacousy and survived a chip py reportedly brutallyofficiated game by skating away with a win Sunday afternoon in the friendlier confines of Gordon Memonal Arena the Sunny Acres squad turned back Orangeville Georgetown had faced Chinguacousy in the team s only exhibition and with an undermanned roster came out on the short end of a score This apparently was not the only score to be settled and inconsistent and questionable officiating only served to further fray already short tempers Two Sunny Acres players Mitch Butt and Gord Burke were ejected Sunny Acre Farms from the game as was coach Charlie Hanman Hanman was not behind the bench for the winning effort over Orangeville Sunday afternoon enjoyed a lead after the first penod but then the Georgetown gunners made ad justments to their sights and took control of the game Sufftiy Acres led 2 after two periods and enjoyed a lead before Ching notched a lategame goal to run the final count to in Georgetown s favor Mitch Butt Mark Lonto Brad and Rob Boyle scored for Georgetown Tutt collected an assist on Mitch Butt opening Georgetown marker Defenceman Eric Long collected three assists with other assists go ing to Gord Burke Rich Bond Jake and Trevor Ehnesky The tough en counter might have taken something out of the Sunny Acres team as it took awhile for Georgetown to get untracked against Sunday after noon at Gordon Memorial Arena Sunny Acres led after the first period but the game was knotted 1 1 heading into the final stanza The hometown favorites awoke with a vengeance in the final stan Orangeville 42 to lay proper claim to the win Rich Bond paced the Georgetown attack with two goals and an assist Single Sunny Acres goals were netted by Rob Lang Rob Boyle and Mark Lonto Other Georgetown assists went to Mark Brad Mark Lonto Trevor Elinesky Sean game Jan Cook and Janet Schandelmeier lost their matches Marg Hertz lost The men team visited Ap- plewood and young Keith Smith won Doug won 30 Bob and Chris lost Bill Voisin playing his first interclub match rallied from a 02 score to lose in overtime in the fifth game MOTray Jans had a house full of extra squash players this week as they billeted three of the top European female squash
