told by town councillors Monday night to comply with a rule that will not allow an upright headstone in Green wood Cemetery on Maple Avenue in Georgetown Mrs Kavanaugh was told to lay the inch stone on its side and use it as a pillow marker They told me to put it flat on the ground like a marker The thing is it a 300 headstone It s not meant to la flat on he ground Mrs Kavanaugh said Her father Bernard Postlethwaite died in March of this vear and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery Mrs Kawnaugh ordered headstone from a Milton company Creative Memorials Ltd contacted the Town of Halton Hills in Jul to request a foundation for in upright monument Councillors discussed the headstone night and decided thai it could set a precedent for other upright headstones if Mr s grave is allowed an upright marker The marker would reach a height of 32 inches with a base Halton Hills Mayor Russ Miller said the pillow marker would repre sent a compromise between the upright headstone and the flat marker Town staff told Mrs she would us ing the headstone as a pillow marker I think this solution would some of her concerns and reduce some of her costs and would not compromise town council in the future Mayor Miller said Although councillors voted for the pillow marker Georgetown Ann Currie and rural Coun Joe Hewitt said they would like to see Mrs Kavanaugh get her upright headstone After driving by
