Off to Venezuela Eagerness to learn pays off for Grade 13 coop student When Georgetown District High School student Connna Stephens goes to work for Gohgers Travel this Monday she wont be going to the travel agencys Georgetown of fice Instead shell be taking off to Marguerita Islands a group of islands off the coast of Venezuela The Grade coop student will be one of travel agents spending three days and four nights touring the islands hotels and sites listening to presentations meeting with the tourist board and learning about anything else a tourist would need to know before embarking on a trip to the Marguerites Hie familiarization trip as it is referred to in the business gives travel agents the opportunity to check out a destination to ensure everything advertised about the vacation spot is accurate says Man Anne a Travel agent and super visor The trip is being arranged by Regent Holidays Ms said Corinna will be expected to write a report that will be distributed to the 72 Goligers travel agencies across Canada It will be used as reference when in forming clients about the area The report will also be counted towards coop mark Ms said she to give Corinna this opportunity because of her eagerness to learn and strong work ethic Corinna is the first coop student at Goligers to participate on a familiarization trip The company haft had eight students some of whom were community college students Ms said She said has been in volved in all aspects of the Goliger operation ranging from keeping the travel magazines in order to using the computer to giving out travel information to making travel bookings Corinna said the only thing that makes her nervous about the trip is making a good impression Im going there as a representative of Goligers she said Corinna said she wanted to do her coop at Goligers because she loves travel and people Those are must qualities for any successful travel agent she adds The main thing about this job is personality down west of Acton Cars travelling 80 or kilometres an hour around that curve on Highway at Highway 25 prompted Acton Councillor Norm Elliott to ask for an mediate reduction to 50 kilometres an hour It was my impression that the speed limit sign had been agreed upon for a reduction Coun Elliott said Town engineers said the ministry of transportation in vestigated the site in April and agreed that the speed limit should be extended further west to where houses are located Town engineer Ted said it could be three to six months before the speed reduction sign is posted Coun Elliott asked town staff what was a reasonable time to wait He said he is very concern ed about a nearby crosswalk where school children cross the street Town staff should com municate with the ministry of
