Falls and Thunder Bay In their first game of the tourney Georgetown played the host team Waterloo and had them beat 31 with five minutes left in the game when some questionable calls left them for the final four minutes and Waterloo scored three unanswered goals including the winner at the second mark Scoring for and M were Derick Ellard Shawn Pearson and Chris Barrow assists went to Shaun Curry Steve Wright with two and Jake with two also Thomas Spencer played an outstanding game in goal for Georgetown and kept the game close in the dying minutes only to be beat by a last second tip in Score Waterloo Georgetown 3 The second game saw Niagara Falls AAA team show the locals what AAA is all about But Georgetown didnt know that and gave them a run for their money losing in a very exciting game After falling behind Steve Wright combined with Dave Osborne to finally get Georgetown on the scoreboard at seconds mark of the second period Derick Ellard got the second goal fro and M with assists to and Wright Then put in the third and final goal for Georgetown from a point shot from Wright Tom Diardichuk played a solid game in net and handled some very tough shots from a strong Niagara Falls club Game Three was against Thunder Bay which is the top AAA club in northern Ontario and now Georgetown knows why The final score was 73 for Thunder Bay but does not reflect the play of the Georgetown squad Outweighed and outgunned the Bantams fought off an early three goal deficit to end the first period down with goals going to Shaun Curry and Steve Wright The se cond period saw some good fast hockey But the locals were running out of steam by the end of the period and could only manage one goal at the second mark of the second when Thompson tipped in a Brent Couling pass Thunder Bay scored only one more goal in the third period to- the garne Thunder Bay Georgetown 3 Although we lost alt three games this weekend we are very impressed with the play of the team said assistant coach Joe Money penny Considering the calibre of our competition we were never out of the games totally and Im sure we made some of them sit up and take notice Both coach Wright and myself are happy
