March Rolling Meadows wins Chargers sidelined for season By COLIN GIBSON Herald Sports Editor The Centennial Chargers boys basketball team saw their season come to a close last Thurs day as the Georgetowners were defeated by a wellrounded Rolling Meadows team from Burl in a game played at Centen nial school to decide the wild card entry in public schools semi final suddendeath playoffs The Chargers and Roiling Meadows went headtohead with the winner rounding out the League semifinals final four that already includes North Halton champion Stewarttown Stingers and champion representatives from East and South Halton The semi final games were played Tuesday afternoon at press time the scores were not available Recreation Report Free skating at arenas FREE PUBLIC SKATING PROGRAM SET The ington location Stewarttown Stingers laid claim to the North Halton crown by edging the Chargers 35 In the championship game and the problems that plagued the Chargers against the Stingers faced again against Rolling Meadows Poor free throw shooting pro blems with offensive rebounds and an overreliance on gunner Jim Katsilieris shunted the Chargers to the sidelines The Chargers were good on only twoof attempts from the free throw line and while Rolling Meadows wasn much better 519 the shots they made served to take away Centennial momentum In addition nine players moved in and out of thi Rolling Meadows floorfive all game while the Chargers basically went with their starting five who late in the game ran into foul trouble Charger centre Toll Tons even tually fouled out while regulars Stephen Onoprijenko and Graham Kennedy ended the game with four fouls each which severely limited their through the stretch run of the game in the fourth quarter The first quarter ended with the game tied 1010 but a Rolling Meadows second period surge allowed the visitors to lead 22 at the half effectively put the wraps on the Chargers Rolling Meadows the Chargers in the third period and 1311 in the fourth period to seal the 4332 win Jim Katsilieris led all game scorers with to points teammate Graham Kennedy hooped 10 points Jay Johnson and Toll Tons each had two points for the Chargers Bill
