volleyball team capped an ex season of competition by climbing to number four in the pro vince following play in the provin cial interscholastic championship tournament staged last Thursday and Friday in Mississauga Sixteen teams in four pools com peted in the tournament and the Rebels entered play rank sixth in the province on the strength of Halton and Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference championships The GHAC touma ment championship was the OF qualifier for the Rebels The OFSAA championship title was won by Kitcheners Forest Heights High School who defeated Gordon Graydon High School 1715 and 1511 in the gold medal bestof three match The Rebels laid claim to the number four provincial ranking by advancing to the bronze medal bestof three match against J Brennan High School of Windsor The Rebels fell 153 154 to F J Brennan but could not be denied the number four ranking spot in the province In pool play the Rebels defeated Toronto Madonna and Peter boroughs Adam Scott high schools but lost to eventual provincial finalist Gordon Graydon High School The two wins moved the Rebels against East York High School with the winner advancing to medal play The Rebels defeated East York but the triumph represented both the high point and the low point for GDHS in tournament play East York had entered the pro vincial championship tournament ranked fourth provincially so the Rebel triumph was seen in some quarters as a bit of an upset Unfortunately Julie Ross in dispensable for her strong net play and all round competitiveness in her back in the match after crashing into the bleachers to save a loose ball and was forced to the sidelines for the balance of touma play In the championship semifinal game the Rebels lost to eventual provincial champion Forest Heights High
