Ontario where Lynda was in her third year as an engineering student Lyndas brother Graham Shaw told about mourners that the senseless brutal death of his sister had left him filled with anger Students wept openly at the half hour service for Lynda who disappeared Easter weekend Her beaten stabbed and partly burned body was found a week later The doors of her Dodge Shadow were locked the front tire had been changed and the back wmdow was smashed The suspect has been found Graham Shaw described his emotions following a phone call from Lyndas worried friend Enc Cameron that Lynda had failed to show up for final exams on Easter Monday First I was filled with sadness then anger said her brother But with the sense of pride I have for my sister I hope this will give me the strength to remember Lynda for her ever mindful needs of others for her commitment to her school years first to Hut then Brampton Secondary School and her university years with her final exams but most of all for her hole about the kitchen had we older kids listening to hear what the visitors had to say This is what we heard What a great party why can t we do this once a week So this was the beginning of the Town Euchre Club every Monday night till every couple hosted an evening The big problem for my parents was the babysitting but when Jean Harrop didnt go with her parents she babysat us kids No sooner had our parents gone out the door than we had the brown sugar out to make maple cream candy There wasnt a piece left either and dishes were all washed up too but Im sure mom missed the brown sugar as these were the years and times were not good Audrey Wilson recalled how they played the full card of rounds and while the women were lunch the men would play pony Mason spoke of the euchre club years and hoped they would continue Lois they continue but change to afternoons The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing euchre and win were Ethel Webb Pat Barber Del Wallace and Doug Lucky draw winners were Jean Harrop Ruth Hyatt and Wilmer Mason All were happy to welcome 91 yearold Lawrence May the charter member of the club Some well known people who were members of the club were the late Stan Hall and Mrs Hall prominent Holstein breeder the late J Fraser and Mrs and our own Lawrence May who was a dairy farmer now Maple Lodge Farm The farm is operated by his sons Jack and Bob and their
