Page THE HERALD The Georgetown Fair approaches quickly Fun excitement and entertain await you at the 1990 edition of the Georgetown Fair That s right the threeday ex travaganza at the Fairgrounds runs Sept 7 and and promises to be A Fair to Remember So if you haven been to the Fair come on out and enjoy the fun For 50 for a weekend Family Pass you can go wrong The big attraction at this years Fair is the ever famous Canadian Tire Stunt Drivers The stunt driving team has thrilled au dlences all over North America They are scheduled to start their engines at m on Saturday Sept 8 The admission price to the Fair is for adults and for children age seven to 16 Weekend passes are still the best buy at 50 for a family and for a single weekend pass Friday night is Youth Night with the Much Music Video Dance scheduled to start at dusk day Family Day includes the Fair parade beginning at noon at Holy Gross Church and proceeding to the Fairgrounds The Kinsmen Girl s Softball playoffs run throughout the day and there will be two local bands performing din ing the afternoon The first is The Glen Band a local group who has performed many times at Canada Members of he Georgetown Fair fun for all This year Fair will cost close to to produce and it pro mises to be the best yet Other new and regular tions of the fair include The Conklin Show th s year with two more carnival and lots of games Wilbur the Purple Pig will once again reign supreme at Old Mac Donald Farm Amateur Farmers will com pete at the Fair Olympics on Sun day and Fair organizers are look for local groups to join the fun and compete for prize money at the Fair Agricultural Shows incude the Beef and Dairy Show Western Horse Show a Paint Horse Show and the Light and Heavy Horse Show featuring the magnificent Clydesdale and Belgian Horses Last years Western Show had competitors from as far away as Sudbury The Heavy Horse Show some of the horses in the com petition weighing n at over a tonne ill host competitors from and Northern Ontario Last s Heavy Horse Show had over and was the biggest ever One of the busiest spots during the whole Fair weekend is always in the Homecrafts Building A vast assortment of local home baking jams pickles and canned fru as well as hand crafted knitting and sewing items are beautifully d splayed for mg and judging The junior exhibit gives voung people a chance to exhibit with pride the r artwork baking flower arranging and sewing A leisurely stroll through the building assures the Fair pant that Georgetown still has that old fashioned community spint In response to enquiries from the public the construction of a pole barn at the Georgetown Fairgrounds by the Georgetown Agricultural Society is being financed by the Society and with the generous support of the Georgetown Lions Club said the Society s president Bruce Clure The construction cost is and upon completion which will be in time for the September Fall Fair the building will be used to sell homemade baked goods various work by local school children a wide selection of crafts and a place for local businesses to exhibit their wares During the rest of the year the farm will be used to store the socie ty s equipment he said The building s official opening will happen on Sept during the fair festivities Fun was had by everyone at Ballinaf ad Beach Party It was a medium sized crowd that attended the Hall Boards Beach Party Dance on the weekend A number of great costumes were worn and it took the crowd a while to decide on some winners Special thanks to Bruno Carnelos who was very kind to give his services as the bartender It was a wide variety pot luck menu that was enjoyed with some exceptionally tasty desserts Look for the monthly newsletter that was mailed out this progressed the ra n abated but not the runs mounting against the Dandies The next two games were no different as nothing seemed to mesh This tournament was in sharp contrast to the previous weekend In Georgetown where he Dandies put in their regular team of just ladies Here they won every game to put them in the A division champion ship game against the Panthers from Hillsburg This championship
