meeting Janet has taught Indian children at two different reserva tions and it was very enlightening to hear her account of her deep relationships with these people Her living quarters was a modern outfitted apartment right in the school Indian children have huge families An Indian child can be raised by grand parents aunts and uncles cousins etc and no one worries Janet said The parent of todays children were taken out of their com munities by government educators at age and not return ed until age 16 consequently they had no experience in parenting normally learned in their homes It is hard for native children to adapt to rules the system does not meet their needs and failure is too common In the workforce opportunities are just not there for native people the banks will not support them and few have enough drive to follow through Janet related Traditions are go ing fast and now it is only the older people who make the ar tifacts Janet brought some beautiful samples of
