Page THE HERALD 1MO Haltons History Downtown mall proposed for Georgetown 30 Years Ago Merchants and shop owners were discussing the possibility of turning downtown Georgetown into a Sparks Street Mall af fair If this format was accepted by the merchants of downtown Georgetown Main Street would have ceased to exist In its place a large walking area would have sprouted in Us place This walk area would have included fountains flowerbeds and ben ches for weary shoppers to rest on The decision to construct the outside mall however was left up the merchants of the downtown area During a chant meeting Councillor Ian The Sands of Time From The Files Of The Halton Hills Herald Cass presented a reconstructed photo of what the outside mall format would look like if the merchants decided upomt
