Rebel swimmers dominate meet Georgetown District High School Rebels swim team con tinues to dominate its opponents winning of races against Oakville Trafalgar at Georgetown Indoor Pool Wednes day Three of the races were un challenged by Rebels meaning the team was outraced only twice on the day The meet was as sue cessful as last week in which Rebels won all but six of their races The Rebels didn t swim the junior boy 200 metre relay the senior boy s 200 metre freestyle or the junior boys SO metre breast Conversely Rebels won the junior girl 200 metre medley relay Junior girls metre fry junior girt s metre backstroke and the junior girl metre freestyle relay when didn t swim against them Aside from the junior boy metre medley relay Rebels swept relay events including a close 200 metre senior boy s freestyle race won by a narrow 54thsof a second Rebel girls did very well in this meet highlighted by Julie Robertson who finished first in both the senior girl metre freestyle and the junior girl metre backstroke Senior girl s swimmer Kristjana Curry placed first in the metre freestyle and first in the 50 metre fly For the boys Matthew GDHS Athletes of the Week Brett GUIet and Kristin Hemer both members of the Rebel swim team were chosen as the Georgetown District High School Athletes of the week having done exceptionally well In their swim meet Nov 21 Senior swimmer broke a school record In the 100 metre breaBtstroke and Herner a junior won the SO metre fly and the metre individual medley placed first in two events the metre individual medley and the 50 metre freestyle fifth straight time Captain David Lajeunesse led the attack with five goals and an assist while Jason Christopher got two goals and two assists Kyle also contributed scoring one and assisting on four others On Nov 23 the team had a closer game against Milton an exhibition game which they won on the road Kyle had another good night scoring two goals seconds apart in the first period Paul Withers earned a goal on a breakaway while Jason Christopher netted the other On Nov 25 the team played Erin in a 10 minute mini game between periods of the Acton Jr C SabreFergus game The short match wound up tied The boys will be in Erin this weekend playing in a tournament More records set by Blue Fin swimmers Five members of the Hills Blue Fins Swim Club set new records for the organization at two recent swim meets this month At the Harvest swim meet held at the Olypium Nov Alison Duby set a record in the girls 1011 section swimming the metre freestyle in 35 05 Duby also plac ed fourth in the 50 metre backstroke Leigh Shillington set the other record at the Olympium swlmm the 200 individual medley for year old girls with a time of 3 14 The other three records were set at the Invito which was held Nov and The meet was attended by 270 swimmers Club records were set in girls 1112 class Free by Tracy Melissa Watts girls in the individual medley and Sabrina girls Free Other top finishers
