TOE HERALD OUTLOOK December Me 21 Curling finish for juniors I Lumber Novices lose I J Annul Ml A junior curling team from North Helton Golf and Country club skipped by Paul Burgess competed in the first Annual Chinguacousy Invitational Junior Bonspiel last Saturday The team with Deanne Bayko playing vice Sharon Shappcott at second and Robbie Wands at lead ended the Bonspiel with two wins and a loss In the first game against of the host club the team played well in the early ends against the more experienced Harkness rink However a steal of three points in the third end allowed the rink to take command and they went on to a 102 victory In the second game against Darren of Fr Goetz Secondary School the team got off to a good start with Sharon Shapcott making several key shots which allowed the Burgess rink to come away with a vie tory The final game against the Rink of Chinguacousy saw Robbie and Deanne make several excellent shots to put the Halton rink ahead after six ends However the rink stole two points in the seventh end to narrow the score to 4 In the final end skip Burgess drew his last rock into the eight foot circle against three Fraser rocks to preserve a narrow victory In the closest to the button con test Robbie Wands went to a tie breaker before being eliminated Future Bonspiels for the Junior curlers trips to Milton London and The Juniors will be hosting a Bonspiel in February and a SeniorJunior m March Minor Novice No Waterf ord wins By BEVERLEY BIGGS Herald Special The Georgetown Minor Novices were recently at the Novice Rep Tourna ment The boys played Dunville and but managed no wins Georgetown managed one goal by Todd Kerwin in the game but the games against Alliston and were scoreless The goalies Simon Deely and Stephan are to be commended for their great saves against some powerful teams All that hard work at paid off The record this week stands at a tie a win and a loss Last Monday night Georgetown played Milton to a tie The goals scored were by Todd Ker win assisted by Ryan Inglls Greg assisted by An drew Lefebvre and Matt inga assisted by Peter Veltman On Saturday the minor novices played The team has played Oakville twice before and lost both times but they pulled together and won 20 a shutout for the goalies Peter Veltman got the first goal assisted by Todd Kerwin Todd got the second goal assisted by Greg Bidwell On Sunday the boys lost against Brampton 20 For two and a half periods there was no score before Brampton got their first goal Figure skaters competition success Georgetown Figure Skating Club members took home two golds and a pair of silvers from the Keswick Invitational Skate held Nov 10 and Juvenile ladies skater Rose- Mane Gimeno placed first in flight and third in the final and compulsory moves while Danielle also a juvenile won first place honors in com pulsory moves Tara Hart another juvenile skater earned a fifth place spot in compulsory moves and seventh in flight Brooke Remem da placed fourth in compulsory moves and eighth flight The organization held its an nual club competition Wednesday at Arena though complete results were unavailable at press time Three members on Nov 29 at Memorial Arena The first period saw Matt Hotham score a fine goal at the 38 mark Dan Smith and Jay Hayes got the puck to at the Stoney Creek blue line Hotham brought the crowd to their feet by stick handling from the blue line in through three Stoney Creek players to beat the goal tender high on the glove side Tyler Pearce played shutout goal to keep the score at 10 at the end of the first period Stoney Creek got two quick unanswered goals midway through the second period to take a lead The second goal saw Pearce catch the puck in his glove but the puck and glove were clearly over the goal line Stoney Creek continued to apply pressure and forced Ryan Carter to make two brilliant saves to br ing the 2nd period to an end at 21 Stoney Creek came back on a power play to increase their lead to 31 on a breakaway Georgetown rallied at the 5S6 mark with Trevor Cash setting up Jamie on an excellent two way pass play Laroque shot high on the glove side for a great goal
