Page THE HERALD OUTLOOK Saturday Decembers Is Community Norval Couples Club Christmas party By KAY WILSON The Couples Club of United Church held their Christmas party at the new home of Lloyd and Ella of Norval Over 50 members attended the party on Dec Convening the evening were Ken and Lois Reiti Bill and Jack and Mary Crawford Lloyd and Ella Laidlaw Ron and Phyllis Moffat and Rev Walter and Beecham A beautiful pot luck dinner was set up buffet style Tables decorated for Christmas were able to seat most everyone in the spacious kitchen and family room Following the dinner carol singing was led by Glenn Laidlaw and her sister June Fries at the organ Mary Crawford had charge of a couple of contests followed by more carol singing Over three hampers of tin goods and food were given instead of a gift exchange and were taken to the Food Bank at Mountainview Baptist Church in Georgetown Lois Reid thanked the for hosting the par ty and all who helped to make the evening Carol service Norval United Church Candlelight Service was held in the church on Dec 16 Organist and choir leader is Alan Ford and pianist Lorraine Lawrence and director Gayle Robinson for the junior choir Following the processional of O Come all Ye Faithful the opening prayer was given by the minister Rev Walter Beecham Christmas scriptures were in terspersed by carols and were read by Maureen Wilson Lor raine Lawrence Cathy Paul Fred Paul and Beth Laidhw Senior choir numbers were Oh Bleak and Chill the Wintry Wind Shepherds Pipe Carol Christmas Lullaby All On A Chnstmas Morning Oh Little Town of Bethlehem He Brings Love and Bethlehem Tiny Town Junior choir numbers were Away a Manger Christmas and Children Go where I tell Thee Humble Shepherd was the beautiful duet sung by Glenn and Ruth Lyons The Gift of God s Love was sung by David and Lesley Ann Robinson from the junior choir and the beautiful solo 0 Holy Night was taken by Lorraine Lawrence The last reading was given by Rev Beecham when he donned a white cotton head cover to repre sent the Inn Keeper of the times that was told in story form Joy To the World and Silent Night were sung by the choirs the recessional and beautiful carols sang by the congregation made for a beautiful and mean carol service During the social hour that followed gifts were presented to the choir leaders Alan Ford Lor rame Lawrence and Gayle Robin son As well as Lesley Ann and David Robinson junior choir members were Michael Laidlaw and Richard and Aaron and Shawn Winter cruise Bill and Mae 2 accompanied by David and Kay Julian of have returned home from a weeks cruise to the Panama Canal and Caribbean when they flewtoMontegoBay Jamaica Here they boarded the 700 ft Regent Star Liner with 750 passengers Beautiful food was enjoyed with about six meals a day Lots of entertainment in eluded bingo horse racing video games gambling casinos pools and church services The first port of call was Ochrios just south and still in Jamaica when the tour provided great scenery and natural beau South again they sailed through the Panama Canal and back again it took an hour and onehalf each way and were told about the uprising that had just there The next call was Costa Rica at the south end of Central America and bordering Panama where their mountains equal our Rockies but have green trees and shrubs rather than straight rock Banana plantations Cayman Islands Here turtles were raised and fed for three years Then later on the bus they noticed a sign for turtle burgers The island is a British colony and Georgetown is the capital They pay no
