Raiders also broke a four game losing streak with the win Coach Gary McFadyen said the victory showed how closely the teams are matched in the junior B division this season Basically any team can beat any other on any particular night With the new players got the team has got an even better chance of advancing in the playoffs The two most recent additions to the team Cory Ames and Jason Sirota both played a part in Saturday s suc cess was brought in from Brampton s junior team and stood between the pipes for Raiders Ames scored a goal and was a powerhouse on the ice ac cording to McFadyen He really inspired some of our other players He was digging in the corners coming back on the play and checking very well He played his heart out To make room for Sirota Paul St Pierre was released from Raiders No other moves have been made but McFadyen said the team has one card and one C card left to fill before the deadline in February We be looking at a few more players Tuesday yesterday at our its ow matches Friday Sabres defeated Grand Valley 96 at Acton their second win over Harvesters in a row having beaten them Jan 6 on the road Paul Larsen led the Sabre at tack with a hat trick while Jeff Shevaher close behind with two Jamie Curran John Van Dam Jason Lucas and Mark each had one Sabre coach Ken Steen said this year is another step in the im provement of the organization which he said he hopes will result in a first round bye in the playoffs We started building this team up from three vears ago and now the work has started paying off All the plavers have been work hard to make it happen Saturday Sabres hosted Alliston thrashing Hornets 101 Shevalier Jim English and Phil each notched two goals Paul Jamie Mark and Jason Lucas each had one Sunday s game was the most important
