Topping the scoreboard this week were Brian Bell 710275 and Robert Harrison 708261 Rounding out the top spots were Tonya Moms Christina Lane Dave Ridley Mark Prevost and Eddie Doyle The final Four Steps to Star dom teams have been secured and the teams are as follows Mens Brian Bell singles Robert Harrison Dave Ridley Eddie Doyle Jason and Womens- Christina Lane singles Tonya Moms Sharon Laura Doyle Janice and Lorrie Prevost The spares for the tournament in case anything might happen to any of the teams members or to the singles bowler are Brian Crocker and Sheri Myers Good luck to both first The seesaw battle for first place in Industrial Curling play continues at Georgetowns North Halton curling rink as the schedule of games for the leagues first draw is winding down Insurance Rockers and Work That Body the two leading rinks squared off on Jan 31 with a mere half point margin between them The Rockers started strong Midway through the game they had a 40 lead a lead built with steals in the third and fourth ends But the table turned at that juncture The FitAsAFiddle skip Ken Irwins picked up his shot making and coincidentally the Rockers skip Barry lost his The took ends five through eight highlighted by Irwins final shot that perfectly cradled behind cover in the twelve foot Electing to draw for the win the Rockers released the games last rock inside and it games played involving the top three rinks were about the events on Sheet One in the late draw In the game played there Tom Reeds La Guys were up against Dave Boys La Guys established a seeming ly healthy and comfortable 54 lead after the first four ends of play But the fifth end proved to be a shocker The Norval Boys all of a sudden woke up got hot hot hot and crafted seven points in the fifth the biggest single end score of the season in the league The Reed was rattled by the turn of events and proceeded to lose the next two ends as well The final was a 126 trouncing and the direction for both of these teams shows signs of changing The wmds of change were also evident in another contest Brad Smith seems to be finally getting his game together He took his Wingnut bunch up the ladder with an impressive triumph over the once mighty JAWS With two in the second and another pair in the third the Smith was ahead to stay Deadlocks were the final out comes in a pan- of this weeks ear ly convincing score and six ends in the bank The Hackers version came up against The Dead Enders the lat ter with John Gibson back after surgery induced layoff Don Campbell took his foursome down victory wins Georgetown Bodams Bruins Major Peewees ended their regular with victories over Chinguacousy and Both games were played at Alcott Arena Jan 17 and 20 On Jan 17 Bruins met a scrap py club and emerged victorious in an ex citing contest Georgetown open ed the scoring early in the first period on an unassisted goal by defenoeman Jeff Hewitt stormed back to tie the game only to see the host team take the lead on a goal by David Kotsos assisted by David Kalbarski and Kevin After Chinguacousy again tied the game a pair of goals by Georgetown snipers gave the local team a lead at the end of the first period Fraser Thorn scored on a pass from Brad Spears to give Georgetown a lead Spears then scored on a fme unassisted effort to end the period Chinguacousy came back to tie the game in the second period However a goal by Jaime Bot tomry gave Georgetown a 54 lead Bottomlys goal was assisted by Brad Spears and Scott Truman Chinguacousy rallied to tie the game with two and a half minutes remaining However with only fifty four seconds left In the third period David Boere broke the deadlock to give Georgetown the victory Boeres winning goal was assisted by Scott and Burke On Jan 20 Georgetown ended the regular season play by defeating visiting Ancaster 83 Georgetown assumed a 30 lead in the first period as they con trolled the hockey action Burke opened the Georgetown scoring assisted by Thorn and David One minute later a goal by David Kalbarski assisted by David widen ed Georgetowns lead Scott Truman then put Georgetown ahead 30 on a goal assisted by Thorn Bruins opened the se cond period in the same hungry scoring mood This time Spears scored assisted by Scott Truman then gave the Bruins a 50 lead on a fine solo rush from the Georgetown end zone After Ancaster had reduced the local lead to Spears revived the scoring mood of the Bodanis Bruins with a goal assisted by Jaime Bottomly and Thorn Burke followed with his second goal of the game assisted by Lahey Lumb then gave Georgetown its eighth goal when he again rushed the Ancaster net effort was assisted by David Boere and Andrew caster scored in the dying seconds of the game but to no avail as Georgetown
