After several telephone calls to various Canada Post officials the Herald discovered this type of postage is neither common nor supported by the crown corpora tion This Is very unusual and definitely an exception said Canada Post spokesperson Joyce Wells Ms Wells went on to say its not a recommended practice and the sorting machines are not prepared to handle coins as Asked how the letter passed through the system Ms Wells chalked up the happening to human oversight Ms Wells said she was surpris ed they penny didnt fall off the envelope or cause damage to the machine something she stressed
