implement an anti- whistling bylaw for railway crossings at Trafalgar Road and at Sideroad both in Georgetown Special designation At the request of the Canadian Cancer Society of Hills Town council decided Monday to declare the month of April Cancer Month as that month is the charitys campaign month Council also approved several other similar declarations These include March as Red Cross Month at the request of the local Red Cross Society April 713 as National Wildlife Week at the re quest of the Canadian Wildlife Federation and the week of Feb as Kinsmen Week at the re quest of the Georgetown Kinsmen Club Residents request A petition signed by seven Georgetown residents living in the Main Street area who want council to ensure that any work done to the roadway will not change its existing character was referred by council Monday to staff for a report Pioneer Days get boost Council approved Monday that the licensing fee charged to flea market operators in Town will be waived in the case of the Central Georgetown Business Improvement Area sponsored Pioneer Days this summer Coun cil made the decision on the basis that Pioneer Days involves only downtown core businesses and therefore promotes the downtown area something all councillors favor they said Parade okayed On the advice of Town staff Council decided Monday to per mit the Acton Scout and Girl Guide movements to hold a parade commencing at the Acton School Hall at 130 pm Feb 24 and running south on Main Street to Mill Street and then east on Mill Street to the Acton Baptist Church mm batch a to Care about Kids and give generously to their Cupid Campaign for needy children and teenagers across Halton The Campaign will be launched Wednesday today at Pathways the Halton CAS receiving home in Milton Since its inaugural meeting in October of 1990 the Childrens and Youth Foundation has received donations taking it more than halfway to its fundraising target Marilyn McCulloch Executive VicePresident wants to thank all those who have donated in cluding Oakville Civitans Burl ington Knights of Col umbus Nelson Lions Club McDonalds McHappy Day Club of Oakville Zonta Club of Burlington the Hamilton Home Builders Association Joseph Brant and the Georgetown Klwanis Foundation Board member Gary Corby organized a Contractors for Kids campaign which raised As well there are hundreds of individuals who have shown that they Care about our Kids through their donations of money or time The Foundation is currently committed to a number of pro grams Intended to benefit the children and adolescents of the area One is a Bursary Program for young people in CAS care who have managed despite difficult childhoods to be admitted to university or college but need financial assistance to complete their education Another is a special Summer Camp program for children who cant participate in a regular camp experience The most extensive commit ment of the Foundation is to the maintenance and refurbishing of the receiving homes for teens Grader House Burlington South Forester and Pathways Milton Valentines Day and Cupid are traditional symbols of love and caring says McCulloch We hope Town councillor Marilyn Ser- on the legality of the re cent opening of an adult video Bylaw Enforcement Officer Bob said the company is operating in accordance with the Towns bylaw Only if people were
