appears as if the Ontario Municipal Board will decide if Hills residents Kent and Lois will be permitted to build a 20 estate lot housing development in the rural area of Ballinafad Region Planning and public Works Committee recom mended Wednesday the Beechbrdok Development pro posal be referred to the OMB at the request of the Hickory Falls Ratepayers Association which opposes the application The recommendation will go before 1 counci 1 thi s Wednesday for final approval Mr McClure who spoke to committee members before the recommendation was approved said he had no objection to the OMB being the final arbitrator In defense of his application however Mr McClure told com members Halton Hills council approved the application last September As well only one of the government and other agencies asked to comment on the proposals suitability for the area opposed it according to Mr McClure The Niagara Escarpment Com mission was the one opposing agency Mr noted the NEC opposed the application six months after it originally over whelmmgly supported the development proposal He went on to say opposition by the com mission contradicted the pos tion of its staff Brampton lawyer Ron Webb who appeared before the commit tee members on behalf of the ratepayers association said his client wanted the matter referred to the OMB because the appiica tion doesn conform with the Halton Hills Official Plan and would have a negative impact on the area s water supply and agricultural lands According to a Regional staff report on the application the re quest made by the association should be granted because it meets the criteria set down by the provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs The Ministry guidelines state the Region would only be prevented from granting the re quest if it was in any way frivolous vexatious or for the purpose of delay The staff report states plann and development staff are satisfied the request for referral is legitimate and from sincere concerns of are unable to actively fight I know that in their hearts they are there in the Gulf walking side by side with our servicemen and women guiding them every step of the way Although many returned disfigured or maimed and some never returned they show no feelings of regret for going They would do it again for family friends and even strangers to en joy peace If you get the honor to meet a vet look past the maybe aged and disfugured outside view and you will meet the most beautiful human being you 11 find One who stands for the true meaning of honor one who lives with his or her handicap so that you may enjoy life to it fullest A person who gave you a gift no money could buy the chance to live and our family up knowing peace and freedom They are a rare family who share a special bond known only to a vet The bravery to fight for they believe in and the love for fellow man to endure whatever faces them to keep Canada glorious and free May our vicemen and women in the Gulf be tht last of the best may they return safely to enjoy what they so hard to keep May all vt be repaid with the love and respect they deserve Let not forget those who lost so much so we could have so much No
