volleyball team captured the North championship title on Tuesday at Acton High School by defeating Milton in the final 20 Acton had qualified for the semi finals with a 33 record hav ing beaten Milton in the preliminary rounds and splitting one with Bishop Reding However dropped to Milton In the playoff and Rebels swept Milton Acton junior and senior volleyball teams were eliminated in preliminary playoff play in other Halton league action on Tuesday afternoon Juniors lost 2 0 to Bishop Reding while seniors went down 20 to Nelson Rebel swim team competed the Halton championships at the Raiders are down in their best of five playoff series with Brampton after losing 3 on the rocd Tuesday night The visitors had taken an early lead in the first period on the strength of goals from the Humber brothers Scott and Charlie Scott s opening goal was assisted by Matt and Blair at 33 follow by Charlie s assisted by Duane Lewis and Adam Hagen at Raider coach Gary McFadyen said the team played the first period exactly the way the coaches had planned their strategy but the middle frame told a different story We shut them down pretty well in the first and I think another goal then would have made a difference in the end Brampton got rolling in the se cond though and we weren t able to score on the chances we had said capitalizing on scoring chances was what made the difference in the game He in dicated five partial breakaways made by Brampton that were converted for three goals while Georgetown t connect on any of their own After scoring once in the first period and four times in the se cond Brampton was up 2 until Blair Catherwood scored on the powerplay with just 29 seconds in the middle frame Catherwood was set up by Corey Ames and Rob Doucette McFadyen said his
