Sabres lose By ROBERT RISK Herald Sports Editor Acton Sabres have their backs to the wall in the MidOntario C playoffs against OrangeviHe Crushers having lost 7 3 In Orangevllle Tuesday and trailing the best of seven series Tuedays game wasnt a penalty free affair either featur ing over minutes of penalty box occupation Several fights Ken took place including one which sent Sabres Ed Koeph to fenn Area Hospital to put nine stitches in his head Koeph received the wound when he was brought to the ice by an OrangeviHe player during a scuffle According to Sabre coach Ken Steen most of the rough stuff began after Crusher Trevor ran over goalie Jim from behind it was a cheap shot I thought we were playing them Crushers well until we started taking penalties reemphasizing that he had predicted before the beginning of the that Sabres had to stay out of the penalty box in order to keep pace To illustrate Steens point Crushers scored four goals the margin of victory in that match Sabres scored one along with a marker late in the game OrangeviHe had taken a 20 lead before Jim English got on the board at 29 of the second period assisted by John Van Dam English got his second goal at 11 31 of the middle frame sand wiching Sabres powerplay marker between two Crushers own penalty advantages The home team completed the second period with another goal taking a lead into the dressing room The shorthanded conver by Tim McDonald wasn t enough as two more Crusher powerplay attempts were sue cessful earning them the victory Keoph is reported to be on his feet but is a
