Entertainment Movie Review Mutant Ninja Turtles II has few redeeming qualities THE HERALD Wednesday April 1M1 Page By DIAHANN NADEAU Herald Special Kowabunga Do movies come any sillier than Teenage Mutant Turtles God forbid such possibility Because this week witnessed for the first time the truly insane idiotic and irredeemably bad Turtles In their second movie Imagine two of these wastes of time money and celluloid I your intrepid movie reviewer contributed to the delinquency of two minors by tak ing them to see the latest episode of an idea from hell Turtles II the Secret of the Ooze One wonders about the genesis of such a bizarre and repulsive in vention a couple of drunks lying around eating pizza at four in the morning saying Hey I just got an idea tor a cartoon series like nothing youve ever seen burp His equally insane buddy asks him what it is and he replies These four mutant turtles with Renaissance artists names spr ing from a sewer guided by a giant rat and fight crime using classic oriental fighting techni ques Oh and theyre teenagers and just full of mischief And they really really like piz za And they talk like you know dude talk His buddy says burp what a great idea Thatll really sell I had a dream about giant snakes but turtles is better Lets go for it Then they pass out lout in the morning waken remembering the conver sation to all our misfortune and write it down Unfortunately they were a director and a producer and they had the clout to carry it off And now the western world is paying What can I say The movie is full of violence made cartoonish without blood yes but violence nonetheless These stinking turtles talk all the time have an attitude and if it were your kid youd send him to his room far being so damn mouthy The giant rat is repulsive when you can take the marbles from my hand grasshopper the villain a cheap Darth Vader ripoff and the only halfdecent thing is Paige Turco as April ONeill Turco should stick to her All My Children role she cant be that desperate to have a film career There is nothing good about this series Your child will not benefit from seeing this muck It is totally lacking in charm ap peal or anything else to make it worth paying money to see It is at the opposite end of the Wizard This junk will never become a classic and if you can resist the tide and keep your child away from this then you deserve a giant pat on the back This movie is one of those harb ingers of the end of civilization we are in serious decline if this is all we can come up with to enter tain our kids By the way my minors loved it Theatre Little Theatre presents Lunch Hour ByLOISFRASER Herald Special Its curtains up for Georgetown Little Theatres spring comedy Lunch Hour The play opens on Friday April at the
